Patrice Harris

Founder

I need to read more books. And I need to read them in community. And I need to read more books in community while having thought provoking conversations with black women who are smart and funny. And I need to read more books in community while having thought provoking conversations and eating good food!! These are the thoughts Patrice, founder of Baddies & Books, had before one fateful afternoon of asking random strangers in a Facebook group if they have the same desires and boldness to make it happen. Out of that inquiry and desire to build something meaningful birthed Baddies & Books, and life has not been the same since. Literally, life has not been the same since - it was 2021 (*ques quarantine flashbacks). When she is not reading, dancing, at the gym or watching documentaries, Patrice is either acting in some of your favorite commercials and TV shows, selling a house or making natural haircare content for her budding online community! An east coast native, (PG County Maryland baby!), Patrice moved to LA by way of NYC, to advance her career in entertainment and beyond. Patrice brings a blend of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience to this one of a kind community and works see the baddies grow beyond city limits - with your support - did you tap the “donate” tab yet??

Q El Crosby

Executive Officer

Q is a former English teacher turned screenwriter and a proud alumna of Loyola Marymount University's Writing and Producing for TV graduate program. Hailing from the Westside of Chicago, she began her industry journey as a showrunner's assistant on SWAGGER S2 (APPLE) and GENIUS S4 (NATIONAL GEOGAPHIC) and placed as a semifinalist in the 2021 Women Write Now Fellowship, powered by Hartbeat and the Sundance Institute, with her short film, Spit Out The Bones. Later, she proudly joined the 2023 Fall Cohort of Mara Brock Akil’s Writer’s Colony in Los Angeles, where she completed her romance feature, To My Moon And Stars. Chicago is her hometown and she will always brag about her ability to survive absurdly long winters. (Oh. “You’re from Chicago too?” Where did you go to high school?) She taught 7th-12th grade Lit for about ten years and that work will forever change her life for the better, even though she’s ecstatic to never make lesson plans in Panera Bread again (too.much.bread) or cover up her tattoos with Band-aids. She’s lived under canvas tents in Tanzania, harvested chocolate in Ecuador, and she is a very nervous flier, so she will snitch on you if you don’t put your phone in airplane mode. As a founding member of Baddies & Books since 2021, Q proudly serves as an executive officer and our substack curator! A true gamer girl at heart, Q is 9 times out of 10 the brains and host behind any fun trivia games that we play!

Ebony McCrae

Social Media Strategist

Ebony is an LA native and one of the Baddies + Books founding members. She joined Baddies + Books in 2020 because she yearned for community after looking up and realizing all her childhood friends had moved out of the city. She has since found community and sisterhood in B+B! Following us on Instagram? Ebony is a integral part of the content that you see and love!
